Investors are feely very anxious. After suffering devastating losses, investors are looking to make up for lost ground. It's no wonder that investment scams are multiplying.
Today we want to reveal four common investmen pitches that you must avoid. If you ever hear any of the following phrases, the odds are that the person telling you any of these phrases is out to rip you off. Run, don't walk away.
1. Your profit is guaranteed. There's no risk.
Nothing in life is guaranteed but death and taxes. As we have all learned this year, even bank accounts and Treasuries may not be a sure thing!
This is a HUGE red flag that you should head for the exits.
2. This is your chance to get in on the ground floor.
Unless Bill Gates is offering to get you in on the ground floor, you probably should wait until the building has an elevator.
3. This offer is only available today.
This is the oldest sales pressure tactics in the books. No legitimate investment is ever available for one day only.
4. Just make the check out to me, I'll send the paperwork tomorrow.
Never, ever make out a check to a person who's supposedly selling an investment. And be sure the person is ready to hand you any related paperwork on the spot.
One last simple tip that can save you so much headache and heartache...don't ever invest with a stranger over the phone!
Be careful out there...and stay tuned to Dolans.com for the latest on investment scams.
