Are you still unsure of where to go with the family for summer vacation? Well, Uncle Sam has a deal for you.
Despite tight budgets, out national parks system offers great deals if you're looking for a getaway.
Throughout much of the national park system you don't have to pay an entrance fee. And of the 147 parks with fees, only 21 have raised rates this year by an average of $1 per person and $5 a car.
You still have a lot of free choices, however. The system includes 390 parks, monuments, battlefields, recreation areas and historic sites.
Worried about crowds? 26 of 58 national parks had fewer than a half million visitors last year. And 14 of those charge no fees.
To find out more, check out the National Park Service online at www.nps.gov.
When you compare the costs of this vacation with the price of baseball tickets or a family pass to Disney World, you see what a deal this is.
