Car Buying Tips from My Trip to the Dealer

I need a new car.  So last month I began the “hunt” for an eco-friendly machine.  (I’m not an “environmentalist per say, but I do believe in good gas mileage.)  Living in a high-rise condo with underground garage, we have no access to electricity so a plug-in hybrid is out of the question.

But I LOVE driving a manual shift and that too is a way to save gas.

Try finding a manual shift car!  The last car I drove was one of only two manuals of the make and model in our entire state at the time!  So I knew my search wouldn’t be an easy one.

This time it was even more difficult in large part because of limited inventory after the “cash for clunkers” program.

So Ken and I decided to focus on two different makes and models to make the job easier.  We happened to be spending some time on Cape Cod, so we searched TWO states for my car.

It took a month…but finally SUCCESS!  I was even lucky enough to get a great color this time around.  It was the only one left in the state of Florida.

I pick up the car tomorrow.  So the next time you see a cherry red Honda Fit on the road, think of me and give me a honk!

Because the car is so popular and the manual shift so rare, I wasn’t able to negotiate much on the price—but that doesn’t mean I didn’t try!

If you are in the market for a new car, be sure to read our car buying tips so you can get the best price!
